Empowering Voices And Choices
Welcome to the heart of MANT’s commitment to change – the Community Media wing.
Nestled in the serene hills and forests, our mission is clear: to give voice to those living in remote and marginalised space, far from places where decisions on their lives are being made.
Imagine that even after 70 years, most tribal communities still lack access to information through TV and radio.
We call these areas ‘media dark’. Only 0.25 percent of newspapers are published in tribal and indigenous languages, despite comprising 8.6% of India’s population.!
This is where MANT has stepped in. We saw the gap and decided to fill it. Our community media arm believes in breaking barriers, ensuring tribal voices are heard, loud and clear. We support the operations of Nityananda Janavani 91.2FM, a radio station managed by entirely by the tribal community, which shares their stories, culture, and issues within their community and with the world. We also create documentaries to capture the essence of their lives.
But here’s something special. UNICEF supported Nityananda Janavani for 5 years, till 2015 which helped the radio station to stand on its own feet. We are now on a journey to self-sustainability, thanks to UNICEF’s support.
